Abstract
Diffuse reflectance spectroscopy was applied to the evaluation of discoloration tendency and rate of aging of gardenia dyeing silk fabric under different environmental factors. It was shown that the dyeing silk fabric was predominantly affected when it was treated with a UV-radiation of 365 nm at 100 ℃, and that a trend of gradual change of spectra with the prolongation of aging time was observed. And when the dyeing silk fabric was placed in an atmosphere containing some common gaseous pollutants, such as vopours of acetic acid or formaldehyde, the gardenia dyeing silk fabric was found to be remarkably damaged by vapour of acetic acid, while the damage from the formaldehyde vapour was relatively insignificant.
